Workshop Report on Curriculum Development

Faculty members of the Department of Business Studies, UTAS-Ibra, attended a workshop on curriculum development organized by the College of Economics and Business Administration at UTAS-Muscat on November 7, 2024. The workshop aimed to enable participants to map the courses with Course Learning Outcomes, chapters and topics covered. Gaps were to be identified, and constructive suggestions for addressing them were to be made. The type of assessment was also to be mapped with the courses. This would equip educators with the knowledge and skills required to design an effective curriculum that meets modern educational needs, enhances student engagement, and supports diverse learning objectives.

The workshop focused on the following key objectives:

  1. Reviewing current curriculum frameworks and identifying areas for improvement.
  2. Integrating more interactive content and technology to enhance engagement.
  3. Implementing more diverse assessment techniques to monitor student progress.
  4. Exploring assessment strategies to measure learning outcomes.
  5. Discussing approaches for integrating technology into the curriculum.

The curriculum development workshop was insightful and provided practical tools for designing a student-centered, adaptable, and inclusive curriculum.
