"CPR Procedures for Children and Adults, and First Aid Kit Usage"
On November 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Health, Safety, and Environment Committee organized an informative and practical event titled "CPR Procedures for Children and Adults, and First Aid Kit Usage". Held in the Main Hall, the event attracted 63 attendees, including 47 students and 16 staff members, with the goal of equipping participants with essential life-saving skills and first aid knowledge for effective emergency response.
The session began with a warm welcome from Mr. Vineeth V., Coordinator of EDHSEC, who provided a brief introduction, highlighting the critical importance of CPR training in emergency situations and the committee’s commitment to promoting health and safety awareness.
Led by Mr. Ahmed Saif Humaid Al Mahmoodi, a certified trainer from the IT Department at UTAS-Ibra, the session provided expert instruction on CPR techniques and first aid practices. Mr. Al Mahmoodi explained the life-saving potential of CPR for cardiac arrest victims, covering both its applications and limitations. The training included comprehensive demonstrations of CPR procedures for adults, children, and infants. Participants also learned techniques for managing choking incidents across different age groups to ensure effective response in varied scenarios.
The program further included a detailed session on the correct usage of a first aid kit, where Mr. Al Mahmoodi explained the primary items in a standard kit and their applications in various emergencies.
Following the demonstrations, participants engaged in a hands-on practice session, supervised by Mr. Al Mahmoodi, to build confidence and reinforce their skills in administering CPR and first aid. This interactive component was a valuable addition, enhancing the participants' practical knowledge and readiness for real-life emergencies.
Overall, the event was a significant success, providing participants with critical CPR and first aid skills. It empowered them with the knowledge and confidence to handle emergencies, making this event a valuable initiative by the Health, Safety, and Environment Committee in promoting a safer, more prepared community.
