UTAS–Ibra IT Students Participate in SOOR CTF 2026 Second Edition

Department of Computing and Information Sciences

Twelve students from the Department of Computing and Information Sciences of UTAS–Ibra participated in the SOOR CTF 2026 Second Edition, held on 28 September 2026 at the Oman Across Ages Museum in Nizwa. The event provided the students with an opportunity to test their knowledge and practical skills in cybersecurity through a series of Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges.

During the competition, the UTAS–Ibra IT students worked on different cybersecurity-related tasks that required technical knowledge, logical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. The CTF challenges allowed them to apply concepts learned in the classroom while working on practical cybersecurity problems.

The competition also gave the students the experience of working in a challenging environment and under time pressure. They had to communicate with their teammates, exchange ideas, and explore different approaches to solve the given tasks. This helped them develop not only their technical abilities but also their teamwork, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

Participation in SOOR CTF 2026 provided the students with valuable exposure to cybersecurity activities outside the classroom. It allowed them to apply their existing knowledge, identify areas for improvement, and gain a better understanding of how to use cybersecurity skills in practical situations.

The IT Department appreciates the effort and commitment of the 12 UTAS–Ibra IT students who represented the university in SOOR CTF 2026 Second Edition. Their participation reflects their willingness to learn, accept new challenges, and further develop their cybersecurity knowledge and skills.
