SatMENA INDUSTRIAL VISIT REPORT

An industrial visit to SATMENA, Muscat, Oman, was conducted on 29th April 2025 for second-semester students of the Electronics & Communications program. The objective of the visit was to provide students with practical insights into satellite communication technologies and their real-world applications, thereby bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practices.

During the visit, Mr. Ammar Al Rawahi, Chief Manager at SATMENA, delivered an engaging session on the organization’s pivotal role in delivering satellite communication services across Oman and the broader region, including maritime domains. He emphasized the significance of satellite connectivity in remote and underserved areas and introduced key elements of their technical infrastructure—such as ground stations, transponders, and network control systems.

Further technical demonstrations were led by Mr. Bilal, Mr. Zaka, and Mr. Raheel, who showcased SatMENA’s advanced monitoring systems and troubleshooting methodologies, ensuring consistent and reliable communication services.

The visit proved to be a valuable learning experience for the students, offering them a closer look at the operational frameworks and technologies they study in theory. The interactive nature of the session allowed for meaningful engagement and enhanced understanding of satellite communications in practice.

Acknowledgment: We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Syed Khaja Ahmeduddin Zakir and Mr. Mohammed Haji Ali for their efforts in organizing this educational visit. Special appreciation is also due to Dr. Mohamed Syed Ibrahim for his coordination and support throughout the activity.
