“Local LLMs Deployment Using OLLAMA”

The Staff Development Committee of the College of Computing and Information Sciences organized a workshop titled “Local LLMs Deployment Using OLLAMA” on Sunday, 6th September 2026, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM @ IT306

The session was delivered by the internal speaker, Mr. Mohammed Tauqeer Ullah

The workshop provided valuable insights into the role of deploying local Large Language Models (LLMs) using Ollama to strengthen information security. It highlighted how Ollama enables institutions to download, run, and manage LLMs locally on their own computers or servers. By operating AI models within the institution's infrastructure, sensitive data can remain under institutional control rather than being transmitted to cloud-based AI services.

For an institution such as UTAS, the deployment of local LLMs could support a wide range of educational and administrative applications, including AI-based academic advising assistance, course-specific intelligent tutoring systems, institutional policy and regulation chatbots, programming and cybersecurity learning assistants, research support tools, internal document question-answering systems, staff support chatbots, and Arabic and English educational assistance.

The speaker was felicitated with an appreciation certificate presented by HoD - Mr. Antonio Rutaf Manalang on behalf of the CCIS.
