IT STAFF & STUDENTS attend ISACA’s AI and Cybersecurity SUMMIT
The ISACA Muscat Chapter hosted "AI and Cybersecurity: Strategies for a Secure Future" Summit on Tuesday, Novemebr 5th 2024, at the Intercity Hotel, Muscat.  The event, held from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, convened 80 attendees to explore the evolving landscape of digital transformation and the impact of AI on cybersecurity.  Representing the University of Technology and Applied Sciences - Ibra, Dr. Ramesh Palanisamy, Dr. Vimal Kumar Stephen and 8 students attended on behalf of the Professional Bodies Committee.  The UTAS-Ibra contingent found the event highly enlightening.  Experts discussed the advances and challenges of AI integration in businesses and governance, emphasizing the crucial role of data governance and compliance. The event highlighted emerging AI-powered cyberattacks and the need for proactive defense mechanisms while acknowledging the dual nature of AI in cybersecurity.  Human-AI collaboration was stressed, especially in areas like healthcare insurance fraud prevention. Panel discussions and audience interaction provided diverse perspectives on navigating this complex landscape. Key takeaways included strategies for preparing for AI-driven threats and the importance of continuous learning in this rapidly evolving field. The event fostered valuable dialogue, emphasizing the need for collaboration and adaptation to ensure a secure future in the age of AI.
