Department of Business Studies

The Department of Business Studies of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Ibra hold its annual intercollegiate meet “Innovatia 2024” on May 1, 2024.  This year’s theme is centered on AI, a transformative technology that revolutionizes and redefines the way people live.  Student participants from eight colleges and universities in the Sultanate of Oman competed in four new and exciting AI themed events. They showcased their talents and creativity in developing AI-based innovative products and services through “InovAI”, displayed their research, analytical and strategic decision-making skills in creating an investment portfolio in “TechPortfolio”, impressed the audiences in crafting visually impressive video presentation in “DigiContent” and delivered a lively discussion and thought-provoking analyses on how AI is reshaping traditional HR paradigms in “LivePodcast”.

            The program was formally opened by Dr. Habiba Al-Mughairi, Head of the Business Studies Department, with an inaugural address welcoming the guests and participants from different higher educational institutions. Dr. Abdullah Khalfan Al-Azri, Deputy of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, delivered the valedictory address thanking all the participants and organizers in making this event a success.  Dr. Issa Saleh Al Amri underscored in his speech the importance of extracurricular activities to students’ academic journey. The program’s guest of honor, Ms. Sumaiya Al Siyabi, delivered an impactful and inspirational message encouraging students to be creative and innovative. The most exciting part of the program, the awarding of winners was facilitated by Honorable Dr. Salem Bib Sultan Al Ruzaiqi and Dr. Abdullah Khalfan Al-Azri. Guests, participants, and winners received certificates, cash prizes and mementos.
