Data Analysis using SPSS
Research and Consultancy Department
The Research and Consultancy Department organized a three-days’ workshop from 2nd September to 4th September 2024 on data analysis using SPSS. The sessions were tailored for beginners and covered essential statistical methods, data handling, and advanced multivariate techniques using SPSS software. Dr.Ramesh Gengatharan, Head of Section, Accounting and Finance, Business Studies Department and Dr.Ananth Anthonisamy, Faculty in Accounting, Business Studies Department were the resource persons who shared their expertise in data analysis.
Day 1 (02/09/2024): Participants were introduced to SPSS with a focus on setting up datasets, entering data, cleaning data, and testing the reliability of variables.
Day 2 (03/09/2024): A variety of basic statistical tests were covered, including independent and paired-sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA, chi-square tests, and partial correlation, providing participants with the tools to analyze and interpret data for hypothesis testing.
Day 3 (04/09/2024): The final day delved into more advanced techniques such as factor analysis and multiple regression, equipping participants with the skills to perform complex data analysis.
The workshop successfully introduced beginners to the fundamentals of statistical analysis using SPSS. By the end of the workshop, participants gained practical experience and learned how to perform a variety of statistical tests and multivariate analyses, providing a solid foundation for future research and data analysis endeavors.
