Report on Participation in International Accounting Day 2025 Event

As part of the International Accounting Day 2025 celebrations, the Accounting Unit, CEBA – UTAS Muscat, in collaboration with ACCA Middle East, organized inter-branch and inter-college competitions under the theme “Future-Ready Accountants: Evolving with Intelligence.” UTAS–Ibra participated in this event held on 8 December 2025.

The event featured two competitions, namely the IDEA Talk Challenge for Future Accountants and the Accounting Hackathon 2025. These activities are aimed at strengthening students’ innovation, analytical thinking, communication skills, and digital readiness in response to emerging developments in the accounting profession.

Dr. Ramesh Gengatharan supervised and accompanied the students throughout the event, providing academic guidance and support during both the preparatory and final stages. In the semi-final online round, eight students from CEBA, UTAS-Ibra participated in the competitions. From this group, four students from CEBA, UTAS–Ibra were shortlisted and qualified for the final round. These four students represented the unit in the finals of both events.

The final round provided valuable exposure to inter-branch academic competition and practical application of accounting knowledge in a technology-driven context. The students displayed confidence, creativity, and strong problem-solving ability throughout the event. The participation was a meaningful learning experience and contributed positively to the academic and professional development of the students.
