About Sur Branch (CAS)

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences is a public university offering a range of programs in the field of applied sciences and technology. It was established by Royal Decree 76/2020, issued by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, and is based on the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 with respect to the development of higher education institutions in the Sultanate.

 

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences - Sur has pioneered numerous changes in the local community and Sur’s surrounding areas, especially in the fields of education, innovation support, and community development. The campus initially opened in 1987 as a middle-level college that offered a Diploma in Education. Subsequently, in 1995 it was taken over by the Ministry of Higher Education as a fully-fledged College of Education offering a bachelor’s degree in Education. Later, between 2005-2006, the College underwent an even more radical transformation which led to the establishment of the College of Applied Sciences and thus began offering practical industry-driven majors, such as Mass Communication, Information Technology, and Applied Biotechnology.

 

UTAS-Sur offers programs in Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Bachelor programs in Mass Communication and Information Technology. It offers Bachelor program in the field of Applied Biotechnology.

 

With 1046 students attending from different regions in and around Sur, our dedicated staff is committed to ensuring the overall development of the students, as well as the periodical up-gradation of the curriculum to meet the ever-changing national needs and priorities. This redeeming quality provides the student community with opportunities to engage with others from different backgrounds.
