The University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sohar is an academic institution for higher education that started as an Intermediate College for Teachers in 1990. In 2007, it was transformed into an Applied College affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, then in 2020 it became a part of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences by Royal Decree No. 76/2020.

The university's branch in Sohar aims at scientific and academic excellence, graduating distinguished students in scientific knowledge, digital applications, and professional practical certificates. Moreover, they have creativity and entrepreneurship skills to compete with merit to break into the labour market.

The university seeks to support scientific research in its academic programs by supporting researchers and graduate research for students to support the university's vision and mission in leadership in technical education and building competitive and innovative capabilities by providing a stimulating environment and effective partnership with the community.

I am pleased to welcome you through the page of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Suhar Branch, this lofty scientific edifice that was established in 1990 as an Intermediate College for Teachers, which was awarding a diploma at that time, then to the College of Education, all the way to the College of Applied Sciences to award a bachelor's degree in the fields of Engineering and Information Technology.

Since the education sector has been and still is one of the essential pillars of the progress, advancement and renaissance of nations, Maulana, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may God support him, affirmed, when setting the Oman 2040 vision, that this vision is the Sultanate's gateway to crossing challenges and keeping pace with regional and global changes. That's why teaching, learning, scientific research and national capabilities were placed among the priorities of this vision to reach comprehensive education and sustainable learning . Scientific research leads to a knowledge society and competitive national powers to raise the quality of the education sector in the Sultanate of Oman to keep pace with international standards and build high-quality educational outputs.

Then, the Higher Education Institutions in the Sultanate were reformulated to establish the University of Technology and Applied Sciences issued by Royal Decree No. (76/2020) on 12/8/2020 AD.

It is no secret to everyone what the university is doing to achieve this goal. Through initiatives to establish laboratories that keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and the Internet of Things Laboratory, in addition to offering workshops and training programs for individuals and local community institutions.

In conclusion, we ask God Almighty to grant success to everyone for what is good and righteous and the progress and prosperity of this great country under the wise leadership of our Lord, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq - may God protect and protect him.
