Advanced Diploma of Technology in Mechanical Engineering

 

Provide high quality education and training in the field of mechanical engineering through relevant theoretical and practical courses designed at a technologist level to equip the vital knowledge, understanding and skills to a high level of competence that will ensure success in the work place and also adapt to constant changes in rapidly developing society. Furthermore, it enables graduate to progress towards B.Tech program.

 

 

The graduate should have the ability to:

  1. Apply and Demonstrate an appropriate mastery of the knowledge, techniques, skills and tools necessary for modern Mechanical Engineering environment with the use of software packages.  
  2. Demonstrate a command of the concepts and principles that underpin knowledge through experimental work, analyze and interpret the data.
  3. Demonstrate creativity with critical thinking in applying economic analysis and cost estimation concepts related to the Mechanical Engineering systems. 
  4. Apply specialized problem-solving skills required in complex and variable contexts related to Mechanical Engineering.
  5. Apply advanced entrepreneurial skills required to the related sectors and manage tasks individually or collaboratively within teams.
  6. Assume high levels of accountability and commitment for the completion of assigned project related tasks.
  7. Use advanced information and communication technology effectively to exchange information related to Mechanical Engineering.

 

  •  Student must complete Diploma in Mechanical Engineering successfully with CGPA ≥ 2.5 in scale of 4.
  •  IELTS band Score ≥4.5 or the FDL Mark should be ≥ 64 (Reference: 1. MoMP Bylaws of College of Technology & its Amendments).
  •  Level to Level CGPA requirements (As per the UTAS Bylaws and its latest Amendments) .

Semester 1

 

The course aims to provide the underpinning knowledge in Engineering Drawing and enable the students to produce high quality engineering drawing using manual and computer aided drafting techniques.

The course aims to provide the fundamental underpinning knowledge in Physics mainly related to the topics on measurements, motion, energy, power, optics and sound.

The course aims to introduce the students to the basic concepts of engineering chemistry which form an integral part of those majoring in Engineering and an essential background for those majoring in other disciplines

The course aims to equip the graduates with problem solving, programming skills and to apply real time programming approaches in all engineering disciplines through any latest computer programming languages like python.

The course aims to provide an understanding and awareness of workplace hazards, risks and industrial safety and to impart necessary skills and competence.

Semester 2

The course aims to equip and enhance the students with hands on structured experience on basic engineering practices adhering to safety regulations.

The course aims to provide the fundamental underpinning knowledge in Physics mainly related to the topics on electricity, electromagnetism, heat, thermodynamics and modern physics.

The course aims to introduce students to renewable energy resources: availability, potential and suitability as a substitute for conventional energy resources for future energy demands.

The course aims to enable students to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of Engineering Mechanics which lays the foundation for further studies in areas such as Mechanics of Materials, Theory of Machines, Fluid Mechanics and Machine Design.

The course aims to develop an intuitive understanding of the concepts of metrology, accurate and precise measurements used in a variety of real-world engineering applications.

The course aims to provide concepts related to the analysis of structures with an emphasis on analysis of stresses, strain and strength under various loading conditions.

Semester 2

The course aims to provide underpinning knowledge of thermal engineering to model and analyze thermal systems related to mechanical engineering applications.

The course aims to provide the knowledge and skills to design and analyze mechanical components for applications in the field of mechanical engineering.
