Regulations for Changing the Academic Program or Major at UTAS

  • 1. Meeting the admission requirements announced by HEAC for the academic program the student wishes to transfer to.
    2. Availability of a vacancy in the desired program.
    3. Meeting the foundation program requirements.
    4. Not more than one academic year completed in current program.
    5. Student bears responsibility for graduation delays.
    6. Approval from sponsor or employer if applicable.
  • Specific Regulations:
    1. Meet program-specific conditions (see Appendix 1).
    2. Changing majors within the same college may be based on competition.
  • College of Education:
    - Minimum GPA: 3.5
    - Foundation program completion (English major)
    - IELTS 4.5 in all skills or equivalent, or 70+ in Level 4
    - Applicable only to English major
  • College of Applied Sciences and Pharmacy:
    - Minimum GPA: 3.0
    - Foundation program completed
    - Grade C in physics, biology, chemistry
    - At least 12 credit hours
  • College of Computer and Information Science:
    - Minimum GPA: 2.5
    - Foundation program completed
    - At least 12 credit hours
  • Mass Communication / Design Programs:
    - GPA: Mass Communication (2.5), Design/Photography/Fashion Design (2.0)
    - Foundation completed
    - Design: Admission test
    - Photography/Fashion: Interview
    - At least 12 credit hours
  • College of Economy and Business Administration:
    - Minimum GPA: 2.5
    - Foundation completed
    - At least 12 credit hours
  • College of Engineering and Technology:
    - Minimum GPA: 2.5
    - Foundation completed
    - At least 12 credit hours
