  • Practical Applications: Examples included AI-driven monitoring of climate and air quality, optimizing resource management in agriculture, and enhancing waste reduction and recycling processes.
  • Commitment to Ethical Development: Emphasizing the importance of embedding ethics at each stage of AI development, ensuring technology meets environmental responsibility standards.

The workshop closed with a call for collaborative standards in AI use, ensuring it supports sustainable and ethical environmental practices.

The OQ Hackathon for Digital Sustainability, held on 20–21 September 2024, provided a platform for innovative solutions in sustainability and digital technology. The Engineering and Technology Department at UTAS-Nizwa participated with the project "Home Automation: Water Supply and Water Tank Monitoring System over IoT" under the supervision of Dr. Wisam. Their innovative solution won the prestigious Best Prototype Prize.
