Diploma of Technology in Computer Engineering

 

This program provides high-quality education with advanced knowledge in science, engineering and technology and to produce skilled computer graduates at the technician level. This program will train graduates for appropriate employment, provide scope for developing entrepreneurial skills, and motivate them to pursue higher education.

 

 

The graduates will have the ability to:

  1. Apply the Computer Engineering techniques, skills, logics, and modern engineering tools required for contemporary Computer Engineering job profiles.  
  2. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering in computer-based systems.
  3. Identify, formulate, and solve Computer Engineering problems.  
  4. Identify the need for engineering solutions in societal, environmental contexts and demonstrate the knowledge for sustainable development.  
  5. Perform individually or collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to undertake responsibilities that conform to established professional regulations and standards.  
  6. Undertake innovative design, research solutions, and experiments to collect and analyze data that can lead to a solution to engineering tasks. 
  7. Demonstrate an effective commitment to quality, timeliness, and lifelong learning. 
  8. Demonstrate knowledge of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues in Computer Engineering and related disciplines.

Semester 1

 

The course aims to provide the underpinning knowledge in Engineering Drawing and enable the students to produce high quality engineering drawing using manual and computer aided drafting techniques.

The course aims to provide the fundamental underpinning knowledge in Physics mainly related to the topics on measurements, motion, energy, power, optics and sound.

The course aims to introduce the students to the basic concepts of engineering chemistry which form an integral part of those majoring in Engineering and an essential background for those majoring in other disciplines

The course aims to equip the graduates with problem solving, programming skills and to apply real time programming approaches in all engineering disciplines through any latest computer programming languages like python.

The course aims to provide an understanding and awareness of workplace hazards, risks and industrial safety and to impart necessary skills and competence.

Semester 2

The course aims to equip and enhance the students with hands on structured experience on basic engineering practices adhering to safety regulations.

Prerequisite:PHYS1110
The course aims to provide the fundamental underpinning knowledge in Physics mainly related to the topics on electricity, electromagnetism, heat, thermodynamics and modern physics.

The course aims to introduce students to renewable energy resources: availability, potential and suitability as a substitute for conventional energy resources for future energy demands.

Semester 1

The course aims to introduce the students to the basic concepts in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and enable them to understand the principles and analyze electrical DC and AC circuits and different applications of electronic semiconductor devices.

The course aims to provide students with an understanding of the design of digital combinational and sequential logic circuits as well as the design of programmable logic devices.

Prerequisite:EGCP1130
The course aims to provide knowledge of fundamental concepts of different technologies used for developing websites and apply it in real-time to create and publish websites.

The course aims to introduce the students to theoretical and practical knowledge of a computer system and to enable them to solve hardware and software related problems.

The course aims to introduce students to underlying principles of computer networks and design network architectures with reasonable effort and prepare them to undertake LAN and WAN access mechanisms, routing algorithms and related issues.

The course aims to provide students with an understanding of microprocessor and microcontroller systems and their use in instrumentation/ control/ communications/ and computing systems.

The course aims to introduce the students to the practical electronics and modern electronics software; to enhance the students’ skills and level of confidence in electronics and circuits analysis through design, implementation, and troubleshooting of simple electronic circuits and by constructing mini electronics projects.

The course aims to empower each student with the technical, presentation and communication skills required to work independently and as a team to solve a given real-time problem.
